Shooting in East Oakland leaves one dead and another injured

OAKLAND – Authorities said one person was killed and another was injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in East Oakland.

The fatal shooting occurred around 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of East Street and 105th Avenue.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The death was the 49th murder in the city this year. Last year, police had already investigated 52 murders at this time.

The other person was taken to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition, authorities said.

The killing was the second in the city that day. A 52-year-old man was shot to death around 12:40 a.m. in his mobile home in the 8400 block of Enterprise Way, near the Oakland Coliseum.

No arrests were announced in either case.
