‘Serious security incident’ at Patelco leaves customers nervous and frustrated – NBC Bay Area

Patelco, a Dublin-based credit union, is facing many nervous customers after it announced over the weekend that it had suffered a “serious security incident”.

During the course of Monday, customers said they were still unable to access their money or see their account balances, and had not heard any further information from Patelco itself.

“You get nothing,” said Sue Johnston. “No money, no online offer, nothing.”

Michelle Dennedy, who runs a local cybersecurity company, said customers should not only continue trying to check their bank statements, but also contact those they may owe money to.

“Maybe you’re waiting for your mortgage payment right now. Instead of calling and getting in that long line asking where my money is, maybe call your mortgage company and say, ‘Hey, I’m not sure if the automatic payment is going through. Can I take a break here?'” she said.

Patelco issued the following statement on Monday afternoon.
