Driver arrested, passenger dies after car crashes into second story of San Jose home – NBC Bay Area

A suspected driver was arrested Saturday after she lost control of her car and crashed into the second floor of a San Jose home, killing her passenger, police said.

The car crash occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. in the area of ​​McKee Road and Francis Drive, police said.

Citing preliminary investigations, police said the driver, a woman, was traveling westbound on McKee Road at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle. She crossed the median and all eastbound lanes, struck the curb, broke through a fence and crashed into the second story of a residential building.

The passenger, a man, died at the scene. The driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later arrested on a charge of intoxicated manslaughter, police said.

The residents of the hit house were not injured but were evacuated, police said.

According to police, this is the 23rd fatal accident in San Jose this year.
