Hamilton County assistant principal suspended after arrest

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – A Hamilton County Schools assistant principal has been suspended pending an investigation into a non-school-related assault incident.

Richard Leon Rorie is listed as the assistant principal of Normal Park Museum Magnet School in Hamilton County. He is the assistant principal for upper grades 6-8.

According to online court records in Montgomery County, Rorie was charged with aggravated domestic violence. He was arrested in Clarksville on June 11. The incident occurred on June 10.

Steve Doremus, communications officer for Hamilton County Schools, gave us the following statement on the incident:

“Mr. Rorie is suspended from Hamilton County Schools pending the investigation of a non-school related matter.”

According to records, Rorie was held on $1,500 bail and is scheduled for another court date of September 20, 2024.
