Man sentenced to life imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a minor

Hyderabad: A mechanic was sentenced to life imprisonment by the LB Nagar special court on Monday for kidnapping and raping a minor. The trial in the case was conducted quickly and the accused was given punishment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.

The accused, Indrakanti Vamshi Krishna, a resident of Hayathnagar, was arrested in crime number 880 by the Hayathnagar police in 2017 after the victim’s parents filed a complaint against him. Besides the life sentence, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 21,000 on him and awarded a compensation of Rs 500,000 to the victim, a press release issued by the Rachakonda Police PRO said.
