Georgia Tech will be closed on Thursday, July 4 to celebrate Independence Day. Additionally, although the campus will be open on Friday, July 5, classes will not take place.

For those in town, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the holidays and long weekend around Atlanta.

Named among Reader’s Digest Listed as America’s most spectacular Fourth of July fireworks show, Stone Mountain Park will host shows through Sunday, July 7. Each evening, the park’s Music Across America drone and light show, featuring immersive lighting, flames, lasers and 250 color-changing drones, will be followed by a patriotic fireworks display.

Celebrate the holidays with America’s favorite pastime as the Braves host the San Francisco Giants at Truist Park. First pitch for Thursday’s game is at 7:20 p.m. In addition to the post-game fireworks, fans can enjoy the CMT Hot Prospects Concert Series on stage at the Georgia Power Pavilion in the Battery for a Fourth of July-inspired performance.

The Braves’ home series continues with a series against the division rivals Philadelphia Phillies July 5-7.

Coinciding with the City of Kennesaw’s Salute to America, the 21-and-over event includes admission to the Smithsonian-affiliated museum as well as specialty food, beverages and live music.

July 4, departure times vary

The world’s largest 10K race returns for its 55th year, with 50,000 participants traveling from Lenox Square to Piedmont Park. Spectators lining the route will be able to stop at one of six stations where items are distributed to encourage the runners, including clappers, thunder sticks and bells. Billed as the “party of the summer,” the number of live entertainment stations along the route has been doubled for 2024.
