7-year-old among 4 dead, 6 in hospital in accident on I-95 in Florida

A crash in Indian River County on Monday left four people dead, including a 7-year-old boy, and six hospitalized. The crash occurred at about 2:15 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95. A 37-year-old woman from Miami was driving a Toyota Camry behind a Suzuki Vitara when she struck the vehicle, leaving both vehicles stranded in the roadway. A 40-year-old woman driving a Dodge Journey northbound approached the scene. The Dodge struck the Suzuki, causing it to travel upright in the roadway. The Camry driver and the Suzuki driver — a 40-year-old man, also from Miami — got out to help everyone in the Dodge. There were six passengers in the Dodge, including four children. While they were still on the roadway, a Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling northbound, striking the left side of the Dodge, causing it to travel northeast toward the shoulder. One passenger was ejected. As the Freightliner passed the crash scene, it struck the drivers of the Camry and Suzuki, killing them. The semi, driven by a 63-year-old Miami man, landed in the median. A Chrysler approached the crash scene. It spun out but still struck the Toyota Camry. The passengers are a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman from Ontario, Canada. They were also hospitalized. The 7-year-old boy who died and the other four in the hospital were all in the Dodge. They are all from Palm Bay, including a 42-year-old man, a 5-year-old boy, a 2-month-old baby and a 9-year-old girl who is in stable condition at St. Mary’s Hospital. Top headlines:

The accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95.

A 37-year-old woman from Miami was driving a Toyota Camry behind a Suzuki Vitara when she collided with it.

Both vehicles then remained in the middle of the road.

A 40-year-old woman approached the scene of the accident while driving her Dodge Journey north.

The Dodge crashed into the Suzuki, causing it to come to a stop upright on the road.

The Camry driver and the Suzuki driver – a 40-year-old man, also from Miami – got out to help everyone in the Dodge. In total, there were six people in the car, including four children.

While they were on the road, a Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling north struck the left side of the Dodge, causing it to drift northeast onto the shoulder of the road.

One of the occupants was thrown out.

As the Freightliner passed the accident scene, it struck and killed the drivers of the Camry and the Suzuki.

The semi-trailer, driven by a 63-year-old Miami man, ended up in the median.

A Chrysler approached the scene of the accident. It skidded but still hit the Toyota Camry. The occupants are a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman from Ontario, Canada. They were also taken to hospital.

The deceased 7-year-old boy and the other four in the hospital were all in the Dodge.

They are all from Palm Bay, including a 42-year-old man, a 5-year-old boy, a 2-month-old baby and a 9-year-old girl who is in stable condition at St. Mary’s Hospital.
