Essex Junction man dies in motorcycle crash in Colchester | Local news

COLCHESTER – Matthew Billings of Essex Junction was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash he was riding in Colchester last night.

Colchester police responded to the crash, which occurred on Main Street at the intersection of East Road and Mill Pond Road, at around 11:39 p.m. on June 30. Billings was found dead next to his bicycle on the lawn of 899 Main St., according to a July 1 CPD news release.

Initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Main Street through the intersection when the driver lost control and ran off the right side of the road. According to the CPD press release, speed is being considered a factor.

Colchester EMS and Fire Departments, as well as Essex Police, responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this accident is asked to contact Colchester Police at 802-264-5555.
