(KRON) – Patelco Credit Union announced that a serious security incident occurred in its systems on Saturday.

The credit union announced on X: “Our systems are currently unavailable. We are working to resolve the outage as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The security breach left customers unable to use banking systems, including electronic transactions such as Zelle transfers, direct deposits, account balance inquiries, and online payment information.

From Monday, Patelco employees will be able to provide personal assistance in stores, via live chat and in the call center. Due to the expected large number of callers, customers must expect longer waiting times.

The disclaimer on the credit union’s website states: “We deeply apologize for the inconvenience and frustration caused by this incident. Our branches, call center and chat will be available to assist you as much as possible during regular business hours on July 1. We will answer your questions as best we can, but are unable to provide you with specific account details at this time. For hours of operation and nearest branches/ATMs, please visit patelco.org/locations.”

There is no estimated time when the service will be available. KRON4 has contacted Patelco, but email contact is currently unavailable.
