Police say 2 people died in a motorcycle-SUV accident near Valpo

VALPARAISO – Porter County Police say two motorcyclists were killed in a crash in the area of ​​Smoke Road and Division Road early Saturday evening.

Police said they were called to the scene of the accident at about 5:18 p.m. and learned from witnesses that a motorcyclist and his passenger were traveling westbound on Division Road when they failed to yield the right of way at the intersection with Smoke Road.

The child turned out to be a member of the NWI Predator Catchers group, who reportedly told police they had created a fake profile online and communicated with the man.

The bike collided with an SUV traveling north on Smoke Road, police said.

One of the motorcycle occupants was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, the other was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead there, police said.

A man reportedly told police that he was at the gas station when an unknown man pulled out a gun and began shooting at him.

Autopsies were reportedly performed Monday morning, but the identities of the dead have not yet been released by the Porter County Coroner.
