5 shots, 3 dead in shooting near UC campus

Three people have died and two others remain hospitalized after a shooting early Monday in Corryville, near the University of Cincinnati campus. Cincinnati police said a total of five people were shot in Corryville around 2:45 a.m. Monday when patrol officers heard the gunshots. Officers were investigating the shooting at the intersection of University and Highland avenues. At the scene, officers found four people shot, and a fifth victim self-transported himself to a nearby hospital. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. A third was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Two other victims are in stable condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Cincinnati police said all of the victims were male, but their ages have not yet been confirmed. The crime scene stretches for several blocks, according to police. Residents in the area say the gunshots sounded like fireworks or a scene from a movie. The shooting happened just about a block from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and several blocks from the University of Cincinnati campus.
