Shooting at Houma bar on Sunday under investigation – KQKI News

On Sunday, June 30, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Houma Police Department officers responded to a shooting at Thirsty’s Bar at 1301 Barataria. Upon arrival, it was discovered that numerous shots had been fired at the location.

During the investigation, officers learned that a 49-year-old male victim had been struck in the leg by a ricochet bullet outside the Courtyard Marriott. Houma Police were then contacted by a local medical facility because a second 26-year-old male victim had arrived at the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation revealed that several people were involved in an altercation inside the bar that continued as they walked out into the parking lot. The suspects then walked to their cars and several suspects armed themselves with firearms. The suspects then shot at each other and fled the area in separate vehicles.

The investigation led to the identity of one of the suspects, 27-year-old Dontrelle Allen. He was later located on a warrant obtained by the Criminal Investigation Department and arrested on three counts of attempted premeditated murder and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

Later that day, June 30, a third 24-year-old male victim was taken to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and is expected to recover.

All victims are recovering from their injuries, as none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
