Special education teacher accused of sexually abusing a student

A New Jersey special education teacher is accused of sexually assaulting one of her students, a local prosecutor said.

Allison Havemann-Niedrach43, who worked at Freehold Intermediate School, was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Monmouth County District Attorney Raymond Santiago was announced on Saturday (June 29). Havemann-Niedrach was arrested last week after an investigation by the MCPO Special Victims Bureau and the Freehold Police Department revealed that she allegedly began sexually abusing her student earlier this year, according to Santiago.

MCPO did not disclose how many times Havemann-Niedrach assaulted the student or when authorities were notified of the alleged abuse. The student’s age was not publicly released, but Freehold Intermediate School enrolls students between sixth and eighth grades.

Havemann-Niedrach began working in the Freehold Borough School District in 2002 and described herself on her LinkedIn account as a “passionate, results-oriented and sincere educator,” according to the New York Post. Superintendent of Freehold Borough School District Asia Michael confirmed in an email informing parents and staff about the incident that a “former employee” had been arrested. the Asbury Park Press reported.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share some disturbing news with you,” the email said. “We have been informed that a former employee has been arrested on charges of third-degree aggravated sexual assault and inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor.”

Havemann-Niedrach is in Monmouth County Jail and is scheduled to appear for a hearing to determine whether she will remain in custody, authorities confirmed via the New York Post.
