The Rolling Stones perform “Dead Flowers” with Lainey Wilson: Watch

The band has only performed “Dead Flowers” once before, on their ongoing 2024 stadium tour, when they welcomed Tyler Childers on stage in Orlando.

The Rolling Stones Country singers gradually collect on their ongoing Hackney Diamonds stadium tour. In early June, Tyler Childers joined the band for a performance of “Dead Flowers” in Orlando. And at their most recent stop in Chicago, they played the same country-inspired record with Lainey Wilson. These performances mark the only time the Rolling Stones have had “Dead Flowers” on the setlist for this current concert series.

Wilson stood next to Mick Jagger during the performance. The country singer took the stage wearing a black cowboy hat and a varsity jacket with Rolling Stones patches. Jagger was given a cowboy hat of his own to wear during the song while he played guitar and traded verses and harmonies with Wilson.

Earlier in the evening, before joining the Rolling Stones for the second of two nights at Soldiers Field, Wilson opened the show. “Another incredible night in Chicago, thank you! And special thanks to @laineywilson for being a part of Dead Flowers,” the band wrote on social media.

Yes, they’re going to have to kick me out because this is absolutely crazy,” Wilson said Country 102.5 in the weeks before their opening act. “Maybe I’ll get a chance to meet them and tell them how much the Rolling Stones have meant to country music and music in general. I can’t believe I get to share the stage with them. Mick Jagger is going to show me some new moves.”

Wilson’s career-defining performance with the Rolling Stones comes shortly before the release of their fifth studio album. Whirlwindwill be released on August 23. “This album has been a long time coming and I can’t wait for the world to get their hands on this work soon,” she shared in a statement earlier this year. “This new chapter of music is the most cathartic and personal piece of art I’ve ever made. I hope this record brings some peace to your whirlwind and wraps its arms around you like it did for me.”
