WCJB TV20 launches First Alert Weather

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – The weather team at your local station WCJB TV20 is launching First Alert Weather. We are dedicated to being the first to bring you the most accurate weather forecast for North Central Florida!

Our promise to be first is to ensure the people of North Central Florida are prepared for any weather event that could impact their day. TV20 will raise awareness of severe weather events with our new First Alert branding on our television channels, website, apps, streaming and social media.

What is a First Alert Day?

When TV20’s Chief Meteorologist Mike Potter predicts significant weather events, he declares a First Alert Weather Day to give viewers time to prepare. On these days, weather is the focus of TV20.

The severe weather events that can trigger a First Alert Day include:

  • Possible tornadoes
  • Strong winds
  • Hurricane or tropical storm conditions
  • Large-scale flooding
  • Dangerous winter weather

How do I get First Alert Weather?

TV20 aims to reach North Central Florida residents wherever they get their information, whether it’s on television, online, or on streaming platforms. The best way to stay up to date on weather events in the area is to download the WCJB Weather App.

TV20 meteorologists provide First Alert weather forecasts on every newscast on our ABC and The CW television channels. The newscasts can be viewed on cable, satellite, wcjb.com/livestream, our news and weather apps, and for free on our Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Android TV streaming apps.
