Virginia State Police completes investigation on Broadway

From July 1, 2024, 5:50 a.m.

BROADWAY, VA (Rocktown Now) — After an investigation into the city, Virginia State Police have determined that no money was missing or misused in Broadway.

An investigation was launched last month after many rumors circulated about more than $200,000 in missing funds. The Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office then requested the investigation.

The rumors emerged after many members of the city council left office, including Deputy City Manager Cari Orebaugh and interim City Manager Bob Holton after longtime City Manager Kyle O’Brien retired.

Sergeant Brent Coffey said in a press release that after a meeting with the district attorney, they concluded that no criminal offenses had been committed and the investigation has now been closed.
