intruder

According to DB reports in February, an intruder broke into the Cepa 21 winery in Castrillo de Duero, Valladolid, Spain, opened the barrels and poured out 60,000 liters of liquid.

The president of Cepa 21, José Moro, said The Avant-Garde He said he felt a “bittersweet feeling” after his arrest and was relieved that the case had progressed, but could not understand “how such an outrage could have happened.”

He told the publication that the spilled wine could not be enjoyed again and that the company had also suffered economically from the situation.

Footage

Surveillance videos released by the producer earlier this year showed an unknown person walking between large vats and turning on the taps, causing tens of thousands of liters of fermentation liquid to flow onto the winery floor.

In the vandalism, which occurred on February 18, a masked person entered the winery at 4:30 a.m. and opened the containers of five stainless steel tanks.

A spokesman for the winery told BBC The company’s two most expensive varieties, its Horcajo and Malabrigo brands, were released from the barrels in less than a minute, so they assumed the intruder was familiar with the property and its grounds.

At that time, Moro also told the Spanish broadcaster TVE that the intruder had not stolen anything and his only intention seemed to be to cause damage.

He said: “This is about causing harm just for the sake of causing harm, by someone who is not very balanced, does not have much common sense and is acting out of hatred.”
