New Orleans police investigate double shooting in French Quarter

HAPPY SUNDAY AND BACK TO YOU. AND NOW IT’S TIME FOR ANOTHER TEST ON OUR FIRST WEATHER ALERT. BECAUSE TODAY IS A WARNING DAY DUE TO THE HIGH TEMPERATURES WE’RE EXPECTING. LOOK AT THESE TEMPERATURES: ALREADY 88 IN BATON ROUGE, 87 IN BOGALUSA, HOT, HOT AND HOT. WELL, WE HAVE A WEATHER ALERT TODAY. WE HAVE A WEATHER ALERT TOMORROW. BOY, IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL ON THE CAMERAS, DON’T IT? A CRUISE SHIP DOWN THERE ON YOUR SCREEN. BEAUTIFUL. LOOK AT THE CRESCENT CITY CONNECTION. BUT THIS AFTERNOON, WHEN YOU’RE OUTSIDE, USE YOUR COMMON SENSE. TAKE IT EASY. 88 IN BATON ROUGE, 86 IN HOUMA, 88. THE CURRENT TEMPERATURE IN GULFPORT, THAT’S WHAT WE HAVE. WILL BE GIVEN WHEN YOU GO OUT. ON THIS FORECAST TRAIL, THAT’S OBVIOUSLY GOOD NEWS FOR US. ANY WEAKNESS THAT HAS BEEN FORECASTED FOR A TIME IS GOING TO OCCUR WHEN IT ENTERS THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN. THAT’S OBVIOUSLY VERY, VERY GOOD FOR US. BUT THIS IS GOING TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS HURRICANE. IT WILL PROBABLY BE CATEGORY 4 LATER TODAY. STAY IN CATEGORY 4 UNTIL TUESDAY. THEN START TO WEAKEN A LITTLE BIT TOWARDS THE END OF THE WEEK. NOW I’LL SHOW YOU THE COMPUTER MODELS, THE SPAGHETTI PLANS, AND THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM. MOST OF THEM WILL KEEP THE SYSTEM IN THE SOUTH. SOME WILL TAKE IT OVER AS WE MOVE UP TO THE USA, TEXAS, LOUISIANA. THERE ARE ALSO SOME MODELS THAT WE ARE IN PLAY WITH. WE’VE DONE THIS BEFORE. YOU KNOW, THESE COMPUTER MODELS CAN CHANGE. BUT ANY TIME A SYSTEM DEVELOPS, ESPECIALLY A HURRICANE IN THE CARIBBEAN APPROACHING THE GULF, WE WATCH IT VERY, VERY, VERY CLOSELY WHEN WE’RE ON AIR. OF COURSE WE START ALL OF OUR NEWS WITH THE WEATHER WHEN WE’RE OFF AIR. WE UPDATE FACEBOOK, SOCIAL MEDIA AND OF COURSE WDSU.COM. HERE’S THE FORECAST FOR THE REST OF THE WORK WEEK. THERE WILL BE HIGH PRESSURE IN THE UPPER LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE. NOW THAT RIDGE COULD WEAKEN A LITTLE BY FRIDAY. SO SOME OF THE MODELS ARE SAYING IT COULD TURN A LITTLE FURTHER NORTH. WE’LL BE WATCHING THAT. WE’LL BE WATCHING THE HEAT TONIGHT AS WELL. HIGHEST TEMPERATURE WILL BE 90 DEGREES. HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT. ACTUALLY NOT. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IS IN EFFECT. WE HAVE YESTERDAY’S HEAT WARNING, CHANCE OF RAIN. OFFICIALLY 40%, THERE’S GOING TO BE SOME RAIN IN SOME NEIGHBORHOODS TO COOL THINGS DOWN. SOME OF THAT RAIN COULD EVEN CONTINUE UNTIL ABOUT 8:30-9:00-9:30 TONIGHT. TOMORROW THERE WILL BE RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AFTERNOON. MAYBE A LITTLE MORE. 9898 YES, IT’S GOING TO BE A FEW DEGREES HOTTER THAN TODAY. HEAT WARNING AGAIN TONIGHT AND TOMORROW. IF YOU’RE OUTSIDE TODAY, OF COURSE TAKE IT EASY. IF YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE OUTSIDE, STAY INSIDE. WATCH WDSU. AND IF YOU’RE SITTING IN THE AIR CONDITIONING, HAVE A NICE GLASS OF COUNTRY TIME. LEMONADE. 40% CHANCE OF UNITED RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS TODAY WITH THESE HIGH TEMPERATURES AVERAGE 95F, BUT THAT’S NOT THE WHOLE STORY. HEAT INDEX WELL ABOVE 104F FOR MANY FOLKS. The showers will end tonight around 9:30 p.m. And tomorrow there’s a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. There’ll be a little more of that. And tomorrow there’s another weather advisory day. Because of the heat. The weather impact day for us is Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday because we’ll have temperatures between 90 and 95 degrees through the end of the work week. That’s your forecast, right?
