Deputy civil engineer arrested for car bomb attack in Yala

In Bannang Sata district of Yala, police arrested a deputy civil engineer on suspicion of involvement in Sunday’s car bomb attack outside the district police station’s residential building.

Investigators identified the suspect as 27-year-old Mustofa Malae from Ban Jarohpae in Than To district and arrested him under the emergency decree, which allows authorities to arrest suspects without a warrant.

Mustofa came under suspicion when police investigators discovered that he had borrowed a pick-up truck from the Tambon Than To Administration Organisation where he worked without giving any reason.

Another point that spoke against him was his wife’s relationship with Wehusman Wehmong, a suspected insurgent against whom an arrest warrant has been issued.
