2 dead in traffic accident

(MENAFN-IANS) Manila, July 1 (IANS) The driver and passenger of a motorcycle were killed after their vehicle was hit by an SUV in Cavite province, south of Manila, police said on Monday.

Police said the two victims, aged 26 and 30, were riding on a road in the town of General Mariano Alvarez on Sunday afternoon when the SUV slammed into them, causing the victims to be thrown from the motorcycles and run over, Xinhua news agency reported.

Rescue workers took the victims to a local hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.

The police arrested the SUV driver and charges have now been brought against him.
