Two teenage girls sexually assaulted near Cramond Beach while search for two teenage boys continues in Edinburgh

Two young girls were sexually assaulted near a “busy” beach car park in Edinburgh.

Officers were notified of the incident, which occurred on a bench near the Silverknowes Beach car park between 7:30pm and 7:45pm on Saturday.

According to police, two male teenagers were involved in the incident and she would like to speak to them.

They added that additional patrols had been deployed in the area to provide reassurance.

Police said it was a busy area at the time of the incident and urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Craig Donnelly said: “The Cramond Beach area was likely to be busy at the time the incident was reported to have occurred and we are appealing to anyone who can provide us with information that could assist our investigation.”

“We would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have noticed two male youths accompanied by two teenage girls on a bench near the Silverknowes Beach car park, or anyone else who may have noticed anything else that may be of significance.

“Incidents of this nature can understandably cause concern among the local community and we will be deploying additional patrols in the area to ensure safety.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101quoting incident number 3438 of Saturday, June 29, 2024.”
