Shooting involving police officer in Taylor Mill under investigation

TAYLOR MILL, Ky. (WXIX) – Multiple police departments were called to a police-involved shooting in Taylor Mill on Sunday.

According to Covington Police Lt. Justin Bradbury, Taylor Mill and Covington police officers responded to the report on Grand Avenue regarding a suspect threatening a family member with a knife.

Neighbors on site said it all started around 3 p.m.

Police said they entered the home and found the suspect threatening the family member with a knife, prompting one of the officers to fire a shot.

Lt. Bradbury said Covington police do not investigate officer-involved shootings within their own department.

Kentucky State Police Trooper David Jones confirmed that the Critical Incident Response Team responded to the shooting investigation.

The neighbor, who did not want to appear on camera, said the couple had lived in the house for at least 40 years and that police had been called there several times in the past week.

So far, no names have been mentioned, nor are there any details about what led to the confrontation between the two parties.
