Two men charged in street racing crash that killed 26-year-old Moore woman

MOORE, Oklahoma (KFOR) – Two men are on trial for allegedly participating in a street race that killed a Moore woman.

Isaiah Lancaster and Devon Davis were charged with first-degree manslaughter.

Lancaster and Davis allegedly street raced on I-35 on June 8, killing 26-year-old Marissa Byrd.

For Misty Goldman, Byrd’s mother, it was an emotional rollercoaster.

“I just want to curl up,” Goldman said. “You go from being angry to trying to deal with it.”

Court documents show that Lancaster and Davis admitted to drinking before driving.

“Drinking and driving is obviously not good in and of itself, things are bound to happen, but when you add racing to the mix, what did they think would happen?” Goldman said.

According to the documents, Lancaster was driving a red Mustang GT and was speeding along the “inside lane” of I-35 when he struck the guardrail and lost control.

The impact triggered a chaotic chain reaction that destroyed a total of five vehicles and killed Byrd.

Davis, the other suspect, was in a Dodge Charger and “landed on its roof,” court records show.

Goldman said her daughter’s life was unfairly cut short because of her reckless actions.

“She was really a good person. She really cared about others. She had this aura about her. She was always happy, optimistic, full of energy, even if she had a bad day, nobody noticed. She was really a good person,” Goldman said.

Both Lancaster and Davis were released on bail.

They must appear in court again on July 23.
