Rape: Ten youths arrested for drug abuse and rape of teenage girl | News from Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Ten youths, who allegedly drugged a teenage girl with ganja-laced soft drinks and raped her multiple times in the last few months, making the girl pregnant, were arrested by Neredmet police. The survivor was handed over to Medchal-Malkajgiri district child welfare committee for further care and protection while the accused were remanded in judicial custody on Sunday. Rachakonda police said the accused, who are private workers and are between 22 and 26 years old, and one is 30 years old, are all ganja addicts and seven of them have a criminal past. Three of them were previously arrested for drug possession, one for attempt to murder and another for extortion in different parts of the city. The 13-year-old girl moved to another part of the city with her mother after her father died a few years ago. The girl dropped out of school and lived at home while her mother worked as a domestic help in the neighbourhood. Through a neighbour, the girl met the main accused. Later, he lured her under the guise of love. They got close and he started dating her. A few months ago, he took her to a remote place near his house in Neredmet and allegedly raped her. Later, he sexually abused her multiple times, police said. After his friends came to know about the assault, they started blackmailing the girl and allegedly raped her multiple times one after another. Once, five of them allegedly raped the girl together. The assault came to light a week ago after the girl fell ill and it was found that she was pregnant. Initially, the case was registered in Kachiguda and transferred to Neredmet for further investigation. Based on the girl’s statement, the case was expanded to include gang rape and Pocso charges.
