Death investigation at a downtown Milwaukee hotel

Death investigation at a downtown Milwaukee hotel

The coroner’s office confirms that someone died at the Hyatt Regency on Sunday.

NEWS AT 5:30 AM: ONE PERSON DEAD IN THE HYATT HOTEL. 12 NEWS HAS OBTAINED VIDEO SHOWING A MAN BEING COVERED WITH A TARPA RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL DOOR. 12 NEWS: EMILY POFAHL IS LIVE ON THE SCENE WHERE SHE JUST TALKED TO A WITNESS. EMILY, WHAT’S GOING ON OUT THERE? YES, THE INVESTIGATION IS STILL VERY ACTIVE RIGHT NOW. THE CRIME SCENE LOOKS LIKE THIS. YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE SEVERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT VEHICLES HERE IN FRONT OF THE HYATT. THEY HAVE BARRED OFF THE ENTRANCE ON KILBOURN WHERE WE ARE RIGHT NOW WITH CRIME SCENE BOARDS. From what we’ve seen, officers and investigators are focusing on the area under the awning just outside the front doors. 12 News obtained video from the scene this afternoon. We want to warn you, this video is very graphic. It shows emergency responders attempting to resuscitate a man outside the Hyatt and then they cover the man with a tarp. WISN 12 News has learned of this. Hotel staff is telling guests that a person came in and was harassing people inside the hotel. WITNESSES TELL ME AUTHORITIES STARTED RIDING OFF THE CRIME SCENE HERE AT AROUND 330. AGAIN, THIS ALL HAPPENED AT THE HYATT REGENCY HOTEL ON MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE AT KILBOURN AVENUE. A WITNESS WALKING PAST THE SCENE SAYS HE SAW POLICE ARRIVE. POLICE TAKED OVER. UHM, THEY TRIED TO RESUSCITATE HIM. UHM, UNFORTUNATELY, THAT DIDN’T WORK. AND, YES, FOR THE NEXT 10 TO 15 MINUTES, THEY WERE PUSHING HIS CHEST AND GIVING HIM MOUTH-TO-MOUTH WITHOUT, YOU KNOW, USING THE DEVICE. EMILY, THERE’S A LOT OF CRIME SCENE BARRED OFF UP THERE. A LOT OF POLICE PRESENCE. ARE PEOPLE STILL COMING AND GOING TO THE HOTEL? YES. It looks like the hotel is still open and the road here on Kilbourn is open in both directions. We’re also told that check-in at the hotel is going on as usual. EMIL
