Lynching investigation: Investigation into Udayan Hostel lynching incident | Kolkata News

Kolkata: As part of the investigation into the murder of a 37-year-old television and mobile phone repairman who was allegedly lynched by its residents at Udayan Hostel on Nirmal Chandra Dey Street on Friday, police have summoned the hostel manager to check the 14 arrested youths and find out if they had any history of violence on the hostel premises in the past. However, the hostel manager was not on the premises when the incident took place after residents accused the man of stealing the night watchman’s mobile phone from the premises. Police said the youths, who are in police custody till July 4, were interrogated and cross-examined individually and collectively during the day as cops said there were different versions from the residents. In Salt Lake Polenite, the three arrested for allegedly lynching their neighbour on Saturday have told police that they had no intention of killing Prasen Mandal. They had slapped him when he accidentally fell and died. They had taken Mandal to the hospital where he died.
