Camper found dead in Menifee County, rescue team reports

MENIFEE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Wolfe County Search and Rescue team said it found a dead camper in his tent Sunday after responding to a 911 call about a camper who was not breathing.

According to the rescue team, the emergency call came in around 11:30 a.m., but the group’s campsite could not be found as attempts to reach them via their mobile phones were unsuccessful.

A member of the camper group was eventually located on Highway 715 near the Suspension Bridge parking lot, which allowed the team to find the campground.

The rescue team said in a post that upon arrival at the Wolfepen Creek campground, an unconscious man was found in a tent and was pronounced dead by the Menifee County Coroner.
