Stabbing in Newark leaves one injured, suspect in custody

Newark police arrested and charged a suspect in a stabbing incident in the city’s West Ward on Sunday.

At around 7 a.m., Newark police responded to a report of a stabbing at the intersection of West Market Street and Central Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been stabbed by another man following an altercation.

Director Frage said the victim was taken to University Hospital where he is being treated for a non-life-threatening injury and is reportedly in stable condition.

Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
