Blackstone Police responded to several incidents over the weekend, several suspects identified and charged

BLACKSTONE – Police Chief Gregory Gilmore reports that Blackstone police responded to several incidents this weekend, with several suspects identified and charged.

At Friday, June 28 At approximately 7:52 a.m., Blackstone Police responded to a report of suspected fraudulent activity involving an elderly resident of an apartment building.

When officers arrived, they spoke to the resident, who explained that after being told over the phone to withdraw money from someone, he changed his mind. He thought he was being scammed and called the police.

The resident stated that he received a prompt on his tablet device to call customer service. During the phone call with the supposed customer service representative, the resident was informed that his account had been compromised and that he needed to withdraw as much money as possible to restore his account. The alleged operator then instructed the resident to meet with a “special agent” who would pick up the funds.

The resident withdrew about $21,000 from his account before contacting police.

Officers set up surveillance in the area where the resident and the suspect planned to meet.

Blackstone police arrested a 37-YEAR-OLD man without incident. The 37-YEAR-OLD man He is accused of the following:

  • Conspiracy to commit a crime, namely theft by false pretenses
  • Attempt to commit a crime, namely theft by false pretenses
  • Attempt to commit a crime, in particular theft of a person
  • Attempt to commit a crime of elder abuse through financial exploitation

Thanks to the quick intervention of the police, the resident did not lose any money.

The investigation is ongoing and no names are being released at this time.

The 37-YEAR-OLD man is due to be arraigned in Uxbridge District Court on Monday.

At Saturday, June 29 At approximately 5:36 a.m., Blackstone Police received multiple reports of car break-ins on Michelle Lane and Ascension Street, as well as break-ins at several businesses, including First Choice Dispensary and Casa Burrito.

Officers went to the area. Through a preliminary investigation, which included a review of surveillance footage, and through the cooperation of the public, officers were able to locate two YOUNG PEOPLE, A 15-year-old man And 17-year-old man both from Blackstone.

  • Credit card theft

  • Theft under $1,200 by false pretenses

Both YOUTH The arraignment is scheduled to take place next week in Milford District Court.
