Bismarck man killed in car crash in Ward County

BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — Two people were injured and a Bismarck man was killed in a rear-end crash south of Minot on the morning of Sunday, June 30.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at approximately 11:08 a.m., a Mitsubishi Outlander traveling south on U.S. Highway 83 began to slow down in the travel lane to check on a vehicle that was on the west shoulder. A Jeep traveling in the same lane struck the vehicle and came to rest in the median ditch. The Mitsubishi came to rest on the shoulder of the road.


The driver of the Mitsubishi – a 68-year-old man from Bismarck – was taken to Trinity Hospital for treatment, but died from injuries sustained in the crash. The passenger of the Mitsubishi (a 63-year-old woman from Orland, California) and the driver of the Jeep (a 36-year-old man from Underwood) both suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Jeep is currently facing charges. The accident is currently under investigation.
