As Edinburgh Live reported, the two were approached by a group of young people on a quad bike on the first day of the summer holidays in the capital.

Detective Sergeant Craig Donnelly said: “The Crammond Beach area was likely busy at the time the incident was reported to have occurred and we are appealing to anyone with information to assist us with our investigation.”

“We would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have noticed two male youths accompanied by two teenage girls on a bench near the Silverknowes Beach car park, or anyone else who may have noticed anything else that may be of significance.

“Incidents of this nature can understandably cause concern among the local community and we will be deploying additional patrols in the area to ensure safety.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3438 of Saturday 29 June 2024.”
