Pedestrian hit and killed by SUV in northwest Phoenix

PHOENIX — A man died when he was struck by an SUV while crossing the street late Saturday night, authorities said Sunday.

Officers arrived near Glendale and 19th Avenue around 11 p.m. and found a man with serious injuries. Firefighters confirmed his death at the scene.

Investigators later determined he was crossing Glendale Avenue outside of the marked crosswalk when he was struck. No further information about the victim’s identity has been released.

Authorities said the young woman driving the SUV remained at the scene of the accident and was not impaired.
