Man arrested after hit-and-run in Boise

According to police, Jacob Miller hit two women, causing life-threatening injuries, and also rammed several cars.

BOISE, Idaho — A Boise man has been arrested and charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death, a felony. According to the Boise Police Department (BPD), 46-year-old Jacob Miller struck two women at the corner of 11th and Main St. in downtown Boise around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, and then drove away. Both are hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

“Last night, this individual’s irresponsible actions seriously injured two of our community members. We thank the many witnesses who responded quickly to provide immediate assistance and everyone who came forward with information regarding this tragic event. Our officers will continue to work with the community to strictly enforce the law, especially as it relates to vulnerable road users in the downtown area. Please drive with caution as we all work to make downtown Boise a safe place,” said BPD Captain Jim Quackenbush.

According to the police report, Miller stopped driving and rammed several cars before he was stopped by police and taken into custody near E. Parkcenter Blvd. and Pennsylvania St. after several witnesses followed him.

“Several streets were closed while police investigated the large accident scene, which occurred around the same time another major event in downtown Boise was wrapping up. Motorists were asked to avoid Main Street and Idaho Street from 6th to 11th Streets. A BPD Accident Reconstruction Team and the BPD Violent Crime Unit began the investigation. The streets are now reopened,” the BPD said.

Miller was also taken to the hospital, then released and booked into the Ada County Jail. Police say he could face additional charges.

BPD is also asking any witnesses to come forward with any information they can and is asking all businesses at the scene of the accident to contact the incident center at 208-377-6790.
