Police are looking for a woman who allegedly pointed a gun at a police officer

Falls Township police were searching Sunday for a woman who allegedly pointed a gun at an officer during a wellness check Saturday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m. Saturday, a Falls Township officer was flagged down by a passing motorist to check on a person in the parking lot of Fairless Hills Self Storage on South Oxford Valley Road. The officer found Karen Marie Stevens-Nunez, 47, who is homeless and formerly lived in Bristol Borough, sitting outside a blue Mitsubishi hatchback with no registration, police said.

According to police, Stevens-Nunez stood up and reached into the driver’s cab. She then pulled out a black semi-automatic pistol. She then turned to the officer and pointed the gun at him, police said.

Fearing for his safety, the officer pulled the trigger, maneuvered around Stevens-Nunez and her vehicle, and gave her distance while commanding her to drop the weapon over the vehicle’s loudspeaker system, police said.

Stevens-Nunez then got into her vehicle and drove away, police said.

To pursue the suspect, the officer turned on his vehicle’s overhead lights and siren.

Despite the officer’s attempts to stop her, Stevens-Nunez did not stop, turned right out of the mall and continued north on South Oxford Valley Road, police said.

During the chase, Stevens-Nunez was observed fiddling with her hands and at one point showing the gun in a cardboard box, investigators said.

The chase continued when Stevens-Nunez turned right onto eastbound Trenton Road and accelerated at a high rate of speed in a 35-mile-per-hour zone, police said.

The officer said the chase reached speeds of up to 89 miles per hour, but he lost sight of Stevens-Nunez’s vehicle at the intersection with South Olds Boulevard, police said.

As of Sunday afternoon, Stevens-Nunez was still at large.

Police released a photo of the wanted woman and a picture of her car, which displayed various phrases, including “True Blue” and “Hate Hurts.”

According to court documents, an arrest warrant was issued overnight for Stevens-Nunez. He is charged with aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, simple assault and speeding.
