14-year-old killed in car crash in Waterford

As NewsChannel 13 has learned, a serious car accident occurred in Waterford on Saturday night, in which one person was killed and another was injured.

Waterford Police told us the accident occurred around 8:44 p.m. in the area of ​​95 Fonda Road.

One passenger, a 14-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Another vehicle passenger, a 16-year-old male, was taken to Albany Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the driver, 18-year-old Everhett R. Hatlee of Troy, was under the influence of marijuana and was arrested on several misdemeanors.

Hatlee was accused of:

  • First degree manslaughter with a vehicle
  • Second degree manslaughter
  • Endangerment of the child’s welfare
  • Serious driving under the influence of alcohol with a child under 16 years of age
  • Driving a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs
  • Reckless driving
  • Multiple traffic violations

According to Waterford Police, the Hatlee case was registered at the Waterford Police Station, arraigned and transported to the Saratoga County Jail.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
