Police fire during arrest after shooting in Delft

On Saturday evening, police in Delft fired shots while arresting two men in connection with a shooting. No one was injured. However, a 20-year-old man from Delft was seriously injured in the shooting that took place before the arrest.

The victim called emergency services at around 11pm and reported that he had been shot. Officers found him injured in Poptahof Noord and took him to hospital. It later emerged that the shooting in which he was injured had taken place on the corner of Papsouwselaan and Westlandseweg.

Officers then saw two men walking, one of whom matched the description of the suspect. Because the fleeing suspects may have been armed, officers drew their weapons and one of them fired a shot.

The suspects, a 28-year-old man from Delft and a 56-year-old man with no known address, were arrested for questioning. During their escape, the men appeared to have thrown away some narcotics. These were confiscated for the investigation.
