Special education teacher in the USA accused of sexually abusing underage students

A special education teacher at a New Jersey middle school was arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a student, authorities said. Allison Havemann-Niedrach, 43, of Freehold Intermediate School, was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Monmouth County District Attorney Raymond S. Santiago announced.

According to theNew York PostShe was arrested earlier this week after an investigation revealed she allegedly began sexually abusing her student earlier this year. Authorities did not say how the behavior came to light or how many times she assaulted the student. The age of the alleged victim was also not disclosed, but the sixth through eighth grader attends Freehold Intermediate School.

She is currently being held at the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold Township awaiting her initial appearance and detention hearing. A hearing will be held to determine whether she will remain incarcerated pending pretrial detention.

The District Attorney’s Office asked the public to provide more information about her activities. “Anyone with information regarding Havemann-Niedrach’s activities is asked to contact MCPO Detective Dawn Correia at 800-533-7443,” the press release said.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Havemann-Niedrach has been a special education teacher at Freehold Intermediate School since March 2022. According to her profile, she has worked as a teacher or substitute teacher at several schools since 2008.

The teacher describes herself as: “Passionate, results-oriented and sincere educator. She is confident and competent and thrives in performance-based environments. She has a proven work ethic of ‘do what it takes’ and offers truly differentiated instruction.”

Following the arrest, Asia Michael, superintendent of the Freehold Borough School District, sent an email to staff and parents stating, “We have been informed that a former employee has been arrested on charges of third-degree aggravated sexual assault and inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor.”

Please be assured that our district has fully cooperated with the District Attorney’s Office since the beginning of this investigation. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority, and we took immediate action to ensure their protection.”

Meanwhile, the teacher’s lawyer said in a statement that she “maintains her innocence” and declined further comment.
