“Mythbusters” host Adam Savage denies allegations of sexual abuse of his sister

Lawsuits have been filed against Adam Savage, co-host of Mythbusters, alleging that he sexually abused his sister when they were both small children.

The lawsuit was filed in New York by Miranda Pacchiana, who alleges that Savage sexually abused her “on multiple occasions over several years,” beginning when she was seven and he was nine.

“As a child, this experience shattered my sense of security and destroyed my self-confidence. For decades afterward, I struggled with depression and near-constant anxiety,” Pacchiana wrote in a statement on her blog. “The public needs to know that Adam Savage sexually abused me as a child, as laid out in the lawsuit I was finally able to file after all these years.”

Savage has denied the allegations through his lawyer Andrew Brettler and diversity with the following statement from him.

“While I hope my sister gets the help she needs to find peace, this must stop. For many years, she has relentlessly and falsely attacked me and other members of my family to anyone who would listen. By spreading numerous untrue stories about us in search of a financial windfall, she has tormented our entire family and alienated herself from all of us. I will fight this baseless and offensive lawsuit and work to settle this once and for all,” Savage said in the statement.

Presenter and Pacchiana’s mother Karen Savage also condemned the lawsuit in a statement received from Brettler.

“It makes me very sad to say this, but my daughter suffers from severe mental health issues and it is devastating that she would do this to Adam and our entire family. Adam is a good man and I fully support him,” she said in a statement.

According to Pacchiana, who says she is filing the lawsuit under the New York Child Victims Act, she and her brother have not had contact in more than two decades.

In the complaint, obtained by the New York Post, Pacchiana claims that Savage “raped her multiple times” and forced her to perform oral sex on him, “among other forms of sexual abuse.”

Savage is best known as the host of the Discovery Channel series designed to debunk popular myths until it was canceled by the network in 2016. The series has since been revived by the Science Channel with different hosts. He is currently the host of the Science Channel series “Savage Builds,” the first season of which premiered last year.
