Oneonta man killed in car crash in Blount County

A new report found that traffic fatalities in New York increased in 2021

BLOUNT COUNTY, Alabama (WIAT) – An Oneonta man was killed in a car crash Saturday night in Blount County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 67-year-old Gary Wilkerson was killed when he was struck by a Toyota Camry at around 8:55 p.m. Wilkerson was riding a Harley-Davidson Road King when he collided with an animal in the road and was thrown from the motorcycle into the oncoming lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred on Blount County 12, about eight miles south of Oneonta. No further information is available as ALEA continues to investigate.
