31st day of alarm in force

A tornado warning and corresponding 31st alert day is in effect in the Tennessee Valley until 10:00 a.m. this morning. The threat of 50 to 60 mph winds, severe hail and tornadoes remains during this time.

The storm line in question is currently moving through the valley and is expected to exit the region around 8 a.m. There will continue to be scattered rain and storms behind the line for the remainder of the morning.







Forecast for Thursday

Rain, storms and much of the cloud cover will be gone by Thursday afternoon, leading to a muggy but calm end to the work week. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the upper 80s and winds will be gusty.

Friday and into Mother’s Day weekend will bring much milder high temperatures, reaching the mid to upper 70s, with correspondingly lower humidity. Each day has a nice mix of clouds and sunshine.

Monday will be cloudy but dry before more rain moves into the area Monday night. Scattered rain and storms will occur throughout the day on Tuesday, continuing into early Wednesday morning. Rain, but no washouts, are also possible in the region on Thursday and Friday. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s throughout the week.

THURSDAY: 31ST ALARM DAY. Strong to severe storms in the morning, clearing in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s. Wind: WSW 10-15 mph, gusts 50 mph. Chance of rain: 60%.

TONIGHT: Calm, mild. Lows around 60 degrees. Wind: N 5 mph.
