Kai Cenat apologizes after being punished for rioting in New York

Kai Cenat has apologized after being punished for the 2023 New York riot.

Cenat has paid $55,000 in restitution, with the money going to the Union Square Partnership and reimbursing the city, but will not face trial.

On August 5 last year, Kai held a big raffle in Union Square giving away game consoles.

More than 6,000 people are said to have attended the event, which soon collapsed. The footage showed young people damaging cars, throwing objects, fighting and blowing up fire extinguishers.

Cenat apologized on Snapchat, saying, “When I promoted a PS5 raffle in Union Square Park, the way I advertised and promoted it created an unintentionally dangerous situation.” The result was an unsafe one situation for the people who live and work in the neighborhood, the first responders and my followers who attended the event,” the apology reads.

“I apologize for the disruption and damage to the community, park, vehicles and storefronts in the area.”

Cenat had previously expressed his disappointment at the fans’ riots. He was later charged with incitement to riot. The court date was August 19th.

“Being from New York, my dream was to give back to the community that made me who I am,” Kai told his subscribers at the time. “But after Friday I realized how much power and influence I have over people.”

“I am beyond disappointed with everyone who was disruptive that day. None of this is cool,” he continued. “None of this was my intention. I had good intentions about the whole thing. I don’t condone anything that happened that day.”
