Techie from Bengaluru sexually abused by technician who came to repair water purifier

In a recent incident in Bengaluru, a techie was allegedly sexually abused, with a technician who had come to repair her water purifier taking advantage of her absence from the house. Indian times reported.

A 30-year-old resident of Begur in southeast Bengaluru had submitted a service request to the manufacturer on May 4 to reinstall her water purifier.

The next day, when the technician didn’t show up, she called the service provider and filed another complaint, the release said.

Afterwards, a technician visited her home around 5:00 p.m. and she let him in without having the slightest idea of the trouble she had caused. After 15 minutes, the technician instructed them to leave the main switch off.

After doing what the technician said, she went to the kitchen to finish her chores. At this point, the technician realized that the woman was alone in the house and groped her by sneaking in from behind.

The completely shocked lady shouted at him for his actions and warned him of the extreme consequences. However, he did not appear to budge, continued to move toward her and began touching her inappropriately, the release states.

The lady pushed him out of the kitchen and locked herself in. When she looked around, she found her cell phone lying there and immediately called one of her friends who lived nearby. She narrated the entire incident over the phone and asked for help.

Within the next few minutes, her friend rushed to her house and found the technician waiting for the woman to come out of the kitchen.

When the technician was confronted about the incident, he tried to attack the friend but was eventually overpowered.

He began to bleed after the scuffle and immediately fled when he realized he was cornered. He left behind all the equipment he had brought to repair the water purifier.

The woman later filed a complaint against the technician at the Begur police station. The police collected all necessary information about the company and the technician. The police also tried to call the technician, but he did not answer.

The police traced the technician’s family members the very next day, but informed the police that he had not returned home after duty and asked them to file a missing person report.

Police declined to file a missing person report, telling family members that the technician was on the run after sexually assaulting a woman.

The police arrested the accused on Wednesday and subjected him to questioning. A case under IPC Section 354 A (sexual harassment) has been registered and further investigation is underway, the release said.
