Crime in Houston, Texas: Guard accidentally shoots woman at club

The Houston Police Department said there were already several hundred people inside the club or waiting to enter when the shooting occurred.

HOUSTON — A security guard at an apparently unlicensed nightclub in north Houston accidentally fired a shotgun he was handling, hitting two women early Sunday morning, police say.

It happened around 3:20 a.m. on West Parker Road along I-45.

The Houston Police Department said there were already several hundred people inside the club or waiting to enter when the shooting occurred.

One of the women was hit in the forehead and the other in the abdomen and shoulder. Both women were treated at the scene and were not taken to hospital.

The guard reportedly fled the scene before the police arrived.

An investigation is underway.
