Newark and East Orange residents injured in hit-and-run moped accident

Hudson County District Attorney Esther Suarez has released details of a hit-and-run crash that left two people seriously injured early Saturday, June 29.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are currently investigating the collision.

According to District Attorney Valdes, Jersey City police were notified of a collision in the area of ​​Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkinson Avenue at around 12:20 a.m.

Officers found two victims with serious injuries, a 36-year-old man from East Orange and a 26-year-old woman from Newark.

The victims were riding a moped at the time of the collision; the second vehicle involved did not remain at the scene of the accident.

Both victims were taken to Jersey City Medical Center where their injuries are being treated.

During the investigation, the second vehicle was identified and has since been secured.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating the incident.
