One Malmstrom pilot killed in car crash, five injured

On June 29, one pilot was killed and three others were injured in a car accident at Malmstrom Air Base.

According to Malmstrom’s press office, two other pilots were injured while responding to the incident.

The five injured pilots were taken to nearby medical facilities. Malmstrom did not provide any information on their condition.

“Each of our Soldiers is amazing and a vital member of our team,” said Col. Dan Voorhies, 341st Missile Squadron commander, in a press release. “We will need time to mourn our lost teammate and for our injured members to heal physically and mentally. Our focus right now is to ensure all of Team Malmstrom has the support they need to get through this difficult time.”

Malmstrom officials said the cause of the incident is under investigation and “all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety of our personnel and prevent future incidents.”

Malmstrom officials said no information about the deceased pilot will be released until next of kin have been notified.
