81-year-old man killed by truck at McDonald’s in Lewisville – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

An investigation is ongoing after an 81-year-old man was run over and killed while leaving a fast-food restaurant on Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the McDonald’s in the 700 block of Main Street around 9:25 a.m. on June 29 after a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

When police arrived at the scene, they learned that the driver of a red Toyota truck was backing out of a parking space, suddenly accelerated, and then struck a man who was walking out of the building.

The 81-year-old victim, identified as George Stepp, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The truck driver was taken to Medical City Lewisville Hospital for a medical evaluation.

Lewisville police said they are investigating whether the driver may have had a health problem at the time of the accident that caused him to back up quickly.

There is no information on whether charges will be filed against the Toyota driver. The restaurant was closed while Lewisville police conducted their investigation.
