22-year-old arrested for armed drinking in public: Santa Rosa PD

(BCN) – A 22-year-old man who was among a group of people drinking in a Santa Rosa park on Thursday night was arrested for alleged possession of a firearm.

Police said they received a call from a community member around 7:10 p.m. reporting people drinking in Bicentennial Park. The caller said he was concerned because children were playing nearby.

An officer on the scene said he saw several people near a bank at the corner of Hardies Lane and Ditty Avenue allegedly drinking alcohol, a violation of the City of Santa Rosa ordinance.

As the officer approached the group, he allegedly noticed that one person in the group was hiding an object in his waistband.

When the officer asked the man what he was hiding, the officer said he became nervous and tense. The man is Marco Antonio Flores, who lives in Santa Rosa.

Eventually, the officer allegedly learned that Flores owned a firearm.

Flores was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for allegedly carrying a loaded semi-automatic pistol.
