The team issued a statement at 7:24 p.m. on Saturday.

An escalator in the stadium that transported fans from the stands to the box level had “malfunctioned,” resulting in “increased downward speed,” the team said.

The on-site doctor and emergency services were on site “immediately”.

“We are grateful for their quick response,” the team wrote.

Where did the escalator malfunction occur?

The Terrace Level is the 400 section and the Box is the 200 section. According to a witness who spoke to the Journal Sentinel, it happened on the escalator between sections 427-425. That’s on the upper level and on the third base side.

Witness to escalator accident at Brewers game: People “fell down”

Kaylee Klein, who was at the game with her boyfriend and his family and friends, witnessed the terrifying scene.

In an interview with the Journal Sentinel on Saturday night, Klein said she went over to take the escalator, but there was “such a long line” and at least 20 people were standing on it. Then they heard “a screeching noise.”
