Developer moves forward with plan for former downtown bookstore

BUFFALO, NY — Iskalo Development Corp.’s project regarding the former Old Editions bookstore will go before the city’s preservation board on May 9 for permission to demolish two vacant buildings nearby.

The company plans to renovate two structures at 68-76 E. Huron Street: a four-story red brick building and a two-story building, both of which housed the bookstore.

Two new floors would be added to the smaller building, bringing it to the same height as its neighbor. The development would house 11,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor and 28 apartments above.
