Suspect caught in Schuyler County gun incident – Finger Lakes Daily News

Authorities in Schuyler County have arrested the man involved in last weekend’s domestic dispute that allegedly involved a handgun.

The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department charged Rexford Smith Wednesday with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, a felony and a misdemeanor, and a misdemeanor count of menacing.

Last Saturday morning around 8 a.m., police were called to a location on Mill Hill Road in the town of Dix for a report of shots fired. A subsequent investigation from that scene led officers to another location on State Route 414 in Catlin. Part of 414 was shut down for more than eight hours while authorities tried to locate Smith, but were unsuccessful. It is unknown where Smith was found when he was taken into custody Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office reported that the investigation into Saturday’s incident is ongoing.
